Paper Bag Packaging for Craft Fairs and Pop-Up Shops

Paper Bag Packaging for Craft Fairs and Pop-Up Shops

At a craft fair or pop-up shop, packaging needs to work in a small space while you serve customers face to face. A simple, well-organised setup can make wrapping purchases easier and keep your presentation consistent throughout the day.

Test your typical purchases before the event

Pack examples of the items you expect to sell, including any boxes or protective wrapping. Check individual purchases and common combinations. Choose bags by their actual dimensions rather than assuming a size name will suit your products.

For fragile pieces, use suitable inner protection. A paper bag provides presentation, but it does not replace a protective box or insert.

Create a compact packing station

Keep bags, wrapping and cards within easy reach of the checkout area. Separate bag sizes so you can identify the right one quickly. Store extra supplies under the table or in a designated container without blocking walkways.

Try the arrangement at home first. You should be able to pack an order without moving your display or searching through several boxes.

Choose details you can repeat quickly

A clear logo and one coordinated card may be enough for a considered presentation. Complicated bows or several wrapping layers can slow you down when customers are waiting. Time a complete example and simplify any steps that are difficult to repeat.

Give customers a way to find you again

Include a clearly printed website address on your packaging or an insert card. If you use a QR code, test the printed version with a phone before the event. Make sure it leads to the page you intend and remains readable at its final size.

Plan for the journey home

Consider how customers will carry their purchases after leaving your stall. Bags without handles can work as presentation packaging for small items, but some purchases may need an additional suitable carrier. Check the weight and shape of the packed product rather than relying on appearance alone.

Protect your spare supplies

Keep unused paper bags in a clean, dry container, away from drinks and damp surfaces. For outdoor events, plan how you will protect your stock from rain and wind. Take out manageable quantities at a time instead of exposing your entire supply.

Record what you use

After the event, note which sizes were most useful, how many bags remain and which packing steps caused delays. Use these observations to adjust your next order and improve the layout of your packing station.
